“Even though this event may be called Singapore Literature Festival, Koh clarified that “it’s not about putting Singapore on the map with regards to its literary scene but about creating an exchange between writers from Singapore and America”. So the programme this year includes a panel on fictionalising South-east Asia, which will see two Filipino-American authors Jessica Hagedorn and Gina Apostol, in conversation with two Singaporean writers Alfian and Jeremy Tiang. There will also be a panel about the artistic achievement of Sonny Liew’s graphic novel and New York Times bestseller The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye, involving Singaporean and New York-based cartoonist and satirist Colin Goh and art historian Pek Ying Sze, along with former DC Comics editor Matt Humphreys, and comics critic and New York Times reviewer Douglas Wolk.”
