2nd Singapore Literature Festival in NYC
September 28 – October 1, 2016
We’re very excited to announce the program for the 2nd Singapore Literature Festival in NYC. This independent, biennial festival in New York brings together Singaporean and American authors and audiences for in-depth conversations about literature and society. The festival theme this year is “Singapore Unbound.” Come and hear Alfian Sa’at, Ovidia Yu, Jeremy Tiang, Marcus Yi, Jason Wee (from Singapore), and Jessica Hagedorn, Gina Apostol, SJ Rozan, Jason Koo, Naomi Jackson (from the USA), and many other authors.
Festival highlights include an exciting opening night reading at the Asian American Writers’ Workshop; a panel on fictionalizing Southeast Asia moderated by Harold Augenbraum at Asia Society; a panel discussion of Sonny Liew’s graphic novel The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye, a New York Times bestseller; and a Singapore theater showcase at the National Opera Center on Closing Night.
All events are free and most are open to the public. Registration is highly recommended for most events and required for the theater showcase “Outside the Lines” on Closing Night.
See you at the festival!
